Adult Child Benefits

The Social Security Administration (SSA) also extends benefits called Disabled Adult Child benefits. Disabled Adult Child benefits allow a disabled person to collects disability benefits under a parent’s Social Security number, meaning the parent must have worked and paid Social Security taxes. There are other requirements as well. The Disabled Adult Child must be age 18 or over, unmarried, and the Onset Date of disability must be before the age of 22. Lastly, the parent must also be retired and collecting Social Security Retirement benefits, disabled and collecting SSD benefits, or deceased.

As for health insurance, like SSD beneficiaries, Disabled Adult Children may also qualify for Medicare.
